Preparing for a stay

A good introduction and a few familiar things help your pet settle in. Here is how we plan their care together.

Let’s make it
simple.

A little preparation helps everyone feel more comfortable, especially on a first stay.

01

Tell us what you need

Share your dates, service and a few details about your pet.

02

Get to know each other

Before a planned first hosting stay, we arrange a meeting with you and your pet at the care home. We can see how your pet settles and discuss compatibility. Short-notice requests are assessed individually.

03

Agree the care plan

Together we create an individual care profile covering feeding, walks, likes and dislikes, behaviour around other pets, heat-cycle needs where relevant, emergency contacts and handover arrangements. You review the written care agreement before confirming a booking.

Help them feel
right at home.

A little preparation makes handover easier. We get to know your pet’s routine, record what they need, and agree what you will bring for a comfortable stay.

01

Health, medication & extra care

Tell us about current and recent health concerns, allergies, treatments and medication. For each medicine, provide the name, dose, schedule, last dose, veterinary instructions and written authorisation. Extra monitoring, medication support or other additional care must be assessed, accepted and priced before booking; we may decline care outside our abilities. We do not provide veterinary treatment.

02

Pet passport & records

For dogs, cats and ferrets, please hand over the pet passport at each check-in; we return it at collection. For other pets, bring the applicable health or vaccination record. We check vaccination information at the first visit and ask for updates when it changes or expires.

03

Owner & emergency details

We record the owner’s name, address, phone and email, the regular veterinarian and a reachable emergency contact. The owner presents identification for verification and signs the care agreement, veterinary emergency authorisation and handover record before accommodation.

IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS

Illness or injury during a stay

We provide reasonable immediate care within our abilities, contact the owner and seek veterinary help when needed. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. The signed care agreement records the veterinarian, emergency contacts and authority for urgent decisions if the owner cannot be reached.

The owner pays necessary and reasonable veterinary treatment, medication and emergency transport costs incurred for their pet under the signed emergency authority. We provide an itemised record and available receipts. Non-urgent extra care and its price require prior agreement. This does not transfer costs for which we are legally responsible because of our own acts or omissions, or restrict mandatory compensation rights.

SHARED PREMISES

If one pet injures another

We separate the pets, seek appropriate veterinary care, notify the owners and record what happened. Documented losses are then discussed with the owners and any insurers. Where an owner is responsible for damage caused by their pet, compensation is addressed under the agreement and applicable law, taking the circumstances into account.

WHAT TO BRING

The comforts your pet knows

We agree the care plan before arrival so you know exactly what to pack.

  • Your pet’s usual food, treats and written feeding schedule, including any allergies or restrictions.
  • A well-fitting collar with identification, leash, harness if used, and any equipment needed for safe walks or transport.
  • Their own bed or blanket; if your pet sleeps in a crate, please provide their familiar crate.
  • Any agreed medication in its original packaging, with the written schedule and veterinary instructions.
  • A favourite toy or comfort item, plus the documents listed above.
  • If a pet in heat has been accepted by prior agreement: suitable sanitary supplies and clear care instructions.
YOUR INFORMATION

Clear records. Respect for privacy.

Before the first stay, owners receive a privacy notice explaining how their contact and booking details are used and sign to acknowledge receiving it. Any optional permission for promotional pet photos is requested separately. We do not ask for a copy of an identity document in the enquiry form.

A few things
worth knowing.

Find quick answers below, then send us any questions about your pet.

Ask about your pet

Can I request a single night or a long weekend?

Yes. One-night stays, weekends and longer stays can be discussed, subject to availability and whether the arrangement suits your pet.

Can you help at short notice?

Immediate day care may be available by prior phone or email arrangement, subject to capacity, suitability and an agreed care plan. Contact us before travelling; an enquiry is not acceptance, and this is not an emergency veterinary service.

Is a meeting needed before the first stay?

For planned first-time hosting, we arrange a meeting with you and your pet before accepting the booking. We discuss their care, see how they respond to the home setting and prepare an individual care profile. Short-notice requests are assessed separately.

What should I bring for the first stay?

Bring your pet’s food and care essentials, the passport for a dog, cat or ferret, or an appropriate health record for another pet, plus current vaccination details. We also complete owner, emergency contact and care documentation before handover.

When can I drop off or collect my pet?

On weekdays, check-in and collection are during 07:00–08:00 or 16:00–17:00. Weekend handovers are by appointment only. One standard day of day care runs 08:00–17:00; we agree your exact handover times in the written quote.

How is the price decided?

There is no fixed daily rate. We discuss and agree a quote with you based on your pet’s breed, size, temperament and care needs, the length of stay and the services requested. Standard day-care hours are generally 08:00–17:00, subject to availability.

How do I secure a place?

Pay 25% of the agreed total to reserve the agreed dates after accepting the written offer. The remaining 75%, including all known agreed extras, must reach us before arrival and before you hand your pet over for care. The invoice states the exact due date and time. We acknowledge the reservation after receiving the 25%; care starts only after full payment has been received. For immediate day care, agree availability and payment by phone or email before arrival.

What should my pet bring?

Please provide their usual food and feeding instructions, a collar with identification, leash or harness, and their bed or blanket. If they normally sleep in a crate, bring their own familiar crate. Bring any agreed medication and applicable pet documents too.

Will other pets be staying at the same time?

Possibly. We host a small number of pets in our family home and check whether their needs and temperaments are compatible. Tell us how your pet responds to other animals, including anything they avoid or dislike.

What if my female pet is in heat?

We ordinarily accept female pets who are not in heat. If your pet is in heat or may be during the stay, please tell us before booking; care is possible only by explicit prior agreement. If we agree, provide suitable sanitary supplies and written instructions.

Can I change my confirmed dates?

If you cancel at least seven calendar days before the agreed start, the 25% booking fee is retained and any 75% paid early is refunded, subject to mandatory consumer rights. No unpaid 75% is due after such timely cancellation. Within seven days, or for a no-show or early collection, the agreed cancellation charge may be up to the full booking price, subject to mandatory consumer law, proportionality, relevant saved costs and replacement bookings. The same loss is not recovered twice. Statutory withdrawal rights take priority.

What if I cannot collect my pet?

Contact us promptly and arrange collection by someone you have authorised in writing. We keep your pet cared for, document contact attempts and apply any extension rate agreed in your signed offer. If collection cannot be resolved or abandonment is suspected, we may seek help from the competent authorities. Missed collection does not automatically change ownership.

What happens if my pet becomes ill?

The owner pays necessary and reasonable veterinary treatment, medication and emergency transport costs incurred for their pet under the signed emergency authority. We provide an itemised record and available receipts. Non-urgent extra care and its price require prior agreement. This does not transfer costs for which we are legally responsible because of our own acts or omissions, or restrict mandatory compensation rights.

Do you offer transport or first-time guidance?

Pre-arranged transport is usually available within about 20 km of Škvorec and is quoted for distance, time and waiting. A typical first-time owner guidance session lasts 60 minutes at our home or locally at yours, with the focus and price agreed in advance.

Will I get updates during a stay?

Updates and photos can be agreed as part of the care plan for overnight or longer stays.

Do you accept every pet?

Each request is considered individually. A first meeting may help us decide whether the environment is right for your pet and safe for everyone.

What about medication or an emergency?

Existing medication routines can be discussed in advance with written owner instructions and veterinary guidance. We do not provide veterinary treatment. For a veterinary emergency, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic.
